It all started in mid 1994 when 3 blokes namely Sri Das, Ronald and brother Randolph started kicking balls in the vacant neighbour's yard. The trio later invited a couple of blokes nearby and like a plague, the blokes started inviting other blokes. Eventually, the yard became overcrowded and the players saw the need to have a bigger field.

So, they moved on to a children's playground nearby, where two strategically positioned trees became the only goalposts. The tiny area was wide enough to cover about a dozen players, though only one team may attack at one time. So, each teams took turns attacking and defending within a set time limit.

Play there lasted a couple of months, before 18 Utd "graduated" again, this time to the school field, though their presence were not particularly welcomed by the school authorities. It was next to the big field, and had two small proper goalposts. It was from there that 18 Utd grew, attracting new members every now and then. They also attracted the school authorities for breaking classroom windows.
