18 Utd's very first match was in 1994 against a team from USJ. They lost 4-7. The very first goal was scored through a penalty, the honour going to Nanda Kumar. Ronald and Das(2) got the other three goals.

Over the next few weeks, two more games were played against the same team and both times, 18 Utd won 4-2 and 4-3 respectively.

18 Utd's first match in 1995 was against urmm ... let's call 'em Team '95. Utd won 5-2 after 2 late goals killed off Team 95's challenge while the score stood at 3-2. Team 95 promptly demanded a replay which they shouldn't have ... they were subsequently trashed 7-0!

18 Utd then came back with another astounding 7-0 win, this time against Team USJ4. A rematch was inevitable and a revamped USJ4 squad beat Utd 2-1. But Utd had the last laugh when another rematch gave them a 3-0 success, wrapping their fixture for the year.

January 96, Utd faced their stiffest test yet by facing Sri KL School Team. Utd's worries were further stretched without 4 regular 'backbones'. At the interval, Utd led 2-1 with goals from Ronald and new 'signing' from Negri, Leonard Joseph. Unfortunately, Sri KL smacked 5 goals in the second half to trash Utd 6-2.

18 Utd's probably biggest upset was against 'derby' rivals from SMSU which paraded players good enough for the school team. Sure enough, 18 Utd's defence were stretched to the limit and it was really through some desperate and resilient 18 Utd defending that the scoreline remained 0-0 at half time.

It was a similar torrid second half for Utd as the opposition threw all they had into attack, but the defence, which had leaked in 8 goals in the past three games, held off every challenge. Ronald and Nanda then scored on the break to give Utd a sweet 2-0 win.

The Subang Cup - Utd's first 'official tourney' featuring a respectable 3 teams! In the first game, a goal in each half from Tee and Nanda gave Utd a 2-0 win over Oldcastle. But they were subsequently drubbed 5-0 by eventual champions, the Indian All Stars. First half scoreline was 1-0 but United's resistance crumbled after the break. It was also the first game that 18 Utd had failed to score.

The Subang Cup was held near the SPM examinations which also dropped the curtains on 18 Utd's active footballing schedule. When Form 5 ended, some of the 'pioneers' just went AWOL, what with colleges, work and all those shit.

Feb 20 1997 marked a sad day for 18 Utd as one of its player - Mohd Farez returned to the arms of God. Sleep well man. Thanks for the memories.

Today, very few people still play at the field - you could even count them with one hand. None of the original members are playing there anymore, and it is only through memories, and this website, maybe, that 18 Utd still lives on ...

Thanks!
