Subang Jaya, 8 MAY 1998 - In view of the water woes currently plaguing the nation, four students from INTI College Subang Jaya have come up with the innovative "Water Recycler 98", a handsized tool to produce clear, clean water for consumption. Ian Kwok, Simon "Tiger" Ong, Iqbal Idris and "Gangster" Joo presented their invention at a simple ceremony at the college.
Group leader Ian Kwok, said he came up with the idea after suffering for two weeks without water supply to his home in Taman Megah.
"It was horrible-la...two weeks no water - two weeks never bathe. All my friends called me Stinko. So, I thought that I might do something about the situation and with the help of my friends, we came up with the water recycler."
According to him, the water recycler has an opening in which unclean water is to be poured into it. Then with a switch, the machine would clean the water using a technique called Collective Water Disposal Unaided Filtering (C.o.W.D.U.n.g) System.
"Basically, the CoWDUng System can remove minute particles and unwanted substances such as bacteria, chemical, oil, coloring and even smell to produce clean, drinkable water. No worries...Water Recycler 98 retains only the useful minerals and removes any harmful contents. In fact, researches have shown urine and ditch water to be the best input because they contain a lot of 'minerals'."
The Water Recycler 98 is being sold at major retail outlets throughout the country and is priced at an affordable RM 3.20.
